Ricardo Iglesias, LCSW-R
I understand the psychotherapy process as a bridge. A bridge is a transitional space that allow us to connect to the other side. The therapeutic space, as a bridge, is an opportunity to create an encounter with our true self, and a space for “change”. Once we cross the bridge, we will be different. I believe the therapeutic space is a partnership, building on the respect of one’s own self and the respect and acceptance of our differences. My approach to therapy is focused on each individual’s need, while providing a safe, supported and empathic environment.
With 25 years of experience as a bilingual psychotherapist, I work with individuals and couples, and as a therapist’s supervisor. I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, loss of loved ones, physical and emotional abuse, chronic and terminal illness, self-esteem issues, coming out, psychological distress associated with immigration and cultural impact.
As a psychotherapist, I work at Metropolitan Center for Mental Health and in private practice. In addition to holding a master’s degree in clinical social work from the NYU Silver School of Social Work, I hold a Master of Psychology from University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (UBA). Prior to my career in Psychology, I studied History and worked as a faculty professor and researcher at the UBA.
